What is your desired future? What might it take to get there? Which of these potential actions is most important to you, imagining that they will be commemorated? How might youth be involved ?
We invite young people from around the world to have their voice heard through an innovative way by creating speculative future historical messages related to the themes of the Summit of the Future. Many of these will be placed on augmented reality historical markers – or mARkers - which will be located around the UN and New York City during the Summit of the Future. We are undertkaing this project in collaboration with the UN International Telecommunications Union (ITU), UN Youth Office and Teach the Future.
Learn about futures thinking, public art, and on technology and society. Then create your very own Speculative Future Historical MARker from the vantage point of the year 2050. Once these digital markers are finalized, they will be added to our website – along with any learning and action resource you provide - and highlighted in social media. Your mARkers will be shared with you for placement in other locations around the world as determined by local youth and partner organizations.
THIS PAGE PROVIDES YOU WITH THE INITATIVE TIMELINE, RESOURCES, AND FORM FOR SUBMISSION.
We have developed a short set of resources to help guide you through futures thinking, understanding public art, and exploring the themes of the Summit of the Future. Please see below.
What are your hopes for the future? What does a thriving future look like in 2050? What actions might be recognized and commemorated as having had a role in getting us to that future? The answers to these questions are what you’ll put on your speculative future historical maker.
Make your message relevant. Does it address the topics of the Summit of the Future? Or topics that should have been addressed in the Summit but were not?
Keep your message short. This can be a challenge to draft. Think about what will get attention and provide clarity and inspiration.
