DATABASE OF YOUTH CREATED TACTICAL PUBLIC AR(T) COMING SOON!
BELOW ARE THE OVERVIEWS OF OUR CURRENT PROJECTS.
Historical Markers that commemorate the lives of Black and enslaved women, men and children in Rhinebeck's past. This is a public art project done by Rhinebeck 7th grade students for Juneteenth. It is a response to the public art murals in the local post office - established and inaugurated by President FDR. Though the murals depict Black Rhinebeck residents, it does not tell their stories and how they lived. The markers created by the students are being placed at the Rhinebeck Village Hall and Post Office. A next goal is to get a physical marker fabricated and installed in the village that speak to this neglected past and our collective history.
To learn about the Post Office murals and invisible stories of Rhinebeck's historic Black population, see the compilation done by the Dutchess County Historical Society.
Youth from around the world are being invited to create speculative historical markers - from 2050 - which commemorate actions taken between now and then that have resulted in youth's desired futures. These markers will be placed around the UN campus during the Summit of the Future.
